Well as I sit in my lifeless cube, listening to The Verve Pipe-Freshmen and testing. I realize how God awful testing is but ironically enough lastnight Prof. Jorgensen shook my hand and handed my track completion for his class in software testing (even though I need to hand in my final still). I am hoping that I can take Pausch’s outlook on life and try to act “alive” while I am still living.
I am trying to keep focus on the testing at hand but find myself day dreaming with larger questions on my mind. I am trying to think of all the things I love about my job to block out this testing stuff!!
My Professor told me to watch this and I kinda said “eh whatever” as I usually do with things like this. Then Heidi and I were channel flipping lastnight and we happen to run into the Diane Sawyer interview with the Pausch family. What an amazing world we live in that YouTube provided us with a gift of seeing this great man. I have posted notes on my board at work to try and follow some of the things that he mentioned.
Here is just a piece of that note:
You can’t get there alone!
- Tell the truth
- Hip is short term…earnest is long-term
- Apologize when you screw up
- Focus on others not yourself
